Bauchi CAN Tasks Christians On Peaceful Coexistence

The Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called on the Christian community in the state to always remember the teachings of Jesus Christ on the need to live peacefully with all manner of people.

The call was made by the state CAN chairman, Reverend Dr Abraham Damina Dimeus while speaking to journalists on the prayer convention being organised by the body.

The CAN leader said the Christian faithful should not only remain peaceful no matter the level of provocation but also engage in fervent prayers for divine intervention in view of the myriad of problems facing Nigeria today.

“The situation in Nigeria today needs fervent prayers. Nigerians are traumatised daily by banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery and other forms of criminality. We really need to stand up and fill in the gaps.

“We don’t have any other way to make things work other than to raise our voices in unison to God. He has given us assurance that anytime we call upon Him, He will listen and hear our supplications,” Rev Dameus said.

Speaking on the forthcoming prayer convention, with the theme, “In a time like this”, the CAN chairman said it was aimed at praying for peace, unity and cohesion among Nigerians, irrespective of ethno-religious sentiments.

Dameus declared that despite the myriad of challenges the country was confronted with, Nigeria remained one and an indivisible entity.

He added that prayers would be offered for peace in Nigeria in general and Bauchi State in particular, and for the success of the electioneering processes and the 2023 general election at the
one-day prayer convention to be held at the CAN secretariat at Rafin Zurfi, Bauchi.

The CAN chairman, however, appealed to Christians in the state to troop out in their numbers for the programme to demonstrate their faith in God.
