This year saw Fireboy, Omah Lay, DJ Neptune, Ladipoe and more win their first-ever Headies awards. Fireboy has consistently put out amazing music since his first hit single ‘Jealous’ in 2019. Two albums later, he has cemented himself as one of the leading young artistes in Nigeria. He went home with five wins for Best Pop Album, Album of the Year, Best R&B Single, R&B Album of the Year and Revelation of the Year – out of his impressive 8 nominations at the 14th Headies. This is his second Headies appearance and we must say he did well for himself.
Omah Lay also made an explosive entry onto the music scene in 2020 with his EP ‘Get Layd’, and his single ‘Bad Influence’ seating at the top of several charts for months. His second EP, ‘What Have We Done’ only served to drive home the point that Omah Lay is the next big thing in pop music. This is Omah Lay’s first Headies appearance and he went home with the Next
Niniola was not left out, receiving her debut Headies for Best Vocal Performance (Female). Though she has been nominated several times, this is the first time she will go home with an award.
