Guardiola Reveals Only Way Liverpool Can Be Champions As Man City Beat Brighton

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has said that Liverpool will be champions if his team drops points.

Guardiola was speaking to the media after a 3-0 win over Brighton at the Etihad on Wednesday night.

There were no goals in the first half, but Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva all scored after the break to give the champions all three points.

The win moves Guardiola’s side onto 77 points from 32 games, one point ahead of Liverpool.

“We had to win 14 games in a row to win the title before,” Guardiola said.

“If we drop points they (Liverpool) will be champions, if we win all our games we will be champions.

“We are now mathematically sure of qualification for the Champions League (next season). Now we know what we have to do.”
