Sokoto Boat Mishap: ‘We Are Mortals’ – Sultan Mourns 29 Teenagers

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has expressed grief over the death of 29 teenagers in a boat accident in Sokoto.

The incident occurred on Wednesday in Gidan-Magana village in Shagari Local Government Area.

The monarch, currently in Saudi Arabia for Umrah (lesser Hajj), sent his sympathies to the bereaved families, people and government of the state.

The Sultan, represented by the Sarkin Kabin Yabo, Muhammadu Maiturare at a condolence visit, described the incident as an act of God.

“All of us mortals must die, must at one time or the other die, and we pray to the Almighty Allah to grant them Aljannat Firdaus.

“We are also fervently praying for Him to grant the families, people and government of Sokoto the formidable fortitude to bear the irreplaceable losses”, NAN quoted him saying.

Rep. Abubakar Umar (APC-Sokoto) has also condoled with the families and people of the village.

The lawmaker, who made cash donations, prayed Almighty Allah to grant the youngsters eternal rest and give all mourners strength to endure the pain.
