The Kano State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Abubakar Burumburum, following a tip-off.
Operatives of the state Operation Puff Adder apprehended the 27-year-old suspect alongside two AK-47 rifles.
Confirming the arrest, the state Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, said the police has started probing the suspect, adding that he carried out his crimes in Kaduna, Kano and other parts of the northern states.
Popularly known as Likita in the Birnin Gwari area, the suspect admitted to kidnapping twice and also stole some cattle.
Burunburum disclosed that he has six children in Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State.
When questioned about the rifles, the suspect confessed that he received them from the children of one late Muhammadu Bakanoma in Zamfara State.
Consequently, the PRO said the police would charge him to court at the end of the investigation.
In another development, the Kano State Police Command has rewarded a Police Inspector, Garba Saleh Rabo and one other, Jamilu Alkasim for rejecting N1m bribe.
Speaking on Thursday, the acting Managing Director, Kano Consumer Protection Council (CPC) Baffa Dan-Agundi introduced the officers to the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Dikko.
He explained that the officers got reports of expired products worth billions of naira that were kept in a warehouse. However, the owner of the expired products offered them N1m bribe to conceal the matter but they refused to accept the bribe.
Instead, they exposed the expired goods and arrested the suspect.
