Why Tuchel Decided Not To Sign Ronaldo For Chelsea Revealed
Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, took the decision not to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United, following advice from former Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick.
The 37-year-old has informed the Red Devils he wants to leave in search of Champions League football.
Chelsea were one of the clubs interested in signing Ronaldo, but they eventually opted not, after talks between Tuchel and club co-owner Todd Boehly.
According to the Times, Boehly pushed for the signing of the five-time Ballon d’Or as he liked the idea of building the attack around him.
But Tuchel kicked against the transfer on the advice of a close friend and former United boss Rangnick, who managed Ronaldo last term.
Rangnick’s advice comes as no surprise after he criticised Ronaldo’s pressing capabilities at the end of last season.
